During the DSD's regular school board meeting in January, our local members were honored in recognition of School Board Appreciation Month! They are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing our school district and they do so in a manner that illustrates what it means to be resilient, ready, and relentless for all they represent! We are grateful for them! 🧡🖤🐏

To Our Dearest Dermott Community, Ram Fans, Staff, Administrators, Students, Stakeholders, and Visitors:
On behalf of the DSD, we would like to sincerely apologize for the altercation that occurred in our gymnasium during Thursday night’s basketball game against the Dumas Bobcats. Although it has been said that the incident involved our students, no Dermott School District students were involved in any way.
Life throws all of us challenges and we have to deal with them; yet, the level of respect we have for our parents and our community allows us to work together in mutually supportive ways which creates an environment where understanding, trust, and respect can flourish. As a district, we will stay engaged in parent and community partnerships to benefit our students in order for them to develop more positive attitudes about school and to achieve more! This is vital to the Dermott School District.
Social media is FULL of fake influencers, fake profiles, as well as scammers who seek to cause disruption whenever possible. We feel that the Dumas School District unfairly associated a threat they received with the Dermott Community with absolutely no evidence to back up such an accusation.
It is important that all school districts in Southeast Arkansas have open communication. We must work collaboratively when issues arise concerning our communities. If it pertains to our students, we encourage anyone with salient information to contact our administration. If it pertains to adults in the community, we have your authorities within the law enforcement community whose responsibility it is to resolve such issues. If we fail to adapt, we fail to move forward! WE WILL MOVE FORWARD!
