Dear Parent/Guardian,
Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) is a federal program designed to provide food support to families with children who were receiving free and reduced-price school meals and missed school for COVID-related absences. It can help families pay for food when students are absent from school due to a COVID-19 related isolation/quarantine. The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), in collaboration with the Department of Human Services (DHS), received approval to operate this program in response to the COVID-19 related school closures for school year 2021-22.
To be eligible a student must:
● Qualify for free and reduced priced meal, AND
● Have been absent from school due to COVID-19 isolation/quarantine
**Benefits are allowed only on planned school calendar days. Benefits are not allowed on weekends or holidays.
For students whose instruction choice was in-person, the households can contact the Dermott Public School District at (870) 538-1000 and complete the Arkansas Parent-Initiated P-EBT Application. The school district will verify the absences, approve the application, and submit the student’s information to DESE. DESE will provide a file for DHS to process the benefit.
Anticipated timeline:
● June 23, 2022 – July 29, 2022 – Household to complete the application process and submit to the district
● July 29, 2022 - August 12, 2022 – District to consolidate collected student information and submit spreadsheet to DESE
Please Note:
The application must be parent–initiated-meaning that the staff at the Dermott Public School District are unable to fill out any/all of the application for your student. Parents must know which days their child (s) were out due to COVID-19 isolation/quarantine, as this is not something that the school can provide. For parents with multiple children, you will need to fill out a form for each child. You can either fill out the application online with the form provided on our Facebook page and Website, or you may fill out a paper application. Paper applications are available to be filled out in the elementary and high school office starting July 5-29 from 8AM-3:30 Monday through Thursday, and from 8-11 on Fridays. All applications(online and paper) must be submitted by July 29, 2022. No applications can be submitted/accepted after that date.

Congratulations to Coach Michael Wolfe, the Dermott Jr./Sr. Lady Rams Coach! He is the first Athletic Director in the school's history to be named Athletic Director of the Year in the state of Arkansas. In addition, Wolfe was also named Coach of the Year in March. He accomplished these two awards in 2021-2022! The DSD salutes you Coach Wolfe! Keep up the good work! 🧡🖤🐏

The DJHS and DHS Cheer Squads will be attending camp Thursday through Saturday at Watson Chapel High School. If you would like to donate Gatorade, water, chips, snack cakes, cookies, etc., please drop items off at Dermott Elementary School by Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. They will leave Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. Thank you in advance for your donations.

Free Summer Meals at DSD!
Parents, if your child attended the elementary prom, the pictures are in. Please stop by the office to pick them up.
Summer School is in session at Dermott High School. Virtual Arkansas courses started Thursday, June 2, 2022. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 - 12:00 pm. The buses will start running Monday, June 6, 2022. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Parents, if you have any questions in reference to whether or not your child has to attend summer school, please contact the high school. 🧡🖤🐏📚
Due to low registration numbers, there will be no summer school at the elementary school. Have a great summer! 🧡🖤🐏
